The award is given in recognition of distinguished and outstanding achievement in exploration by AAPG members who have shown a “consistent pattern of exploratory success.”

Quantitative seismic geomorphology techniques are applied to the middle Frio, south Texas, to quantify the morphometric parameters necessary for predictive geologic models of fluvial reservoirs. This study seeks to quantify the geometric variability of the middle Frio channel belts.

Depositional controls on sediment body architecture in the Eagle Ford/Boquillas system: Insights from outcrops in west Texas, United States

Vertical and lateral facies distribution of the Boquillas Formation (outcrop analog of the Eagle Ford, west Texas) is controlled by sediment productivity under the influence of bottom currents below storm-wave base. Grainstone bodies in the middle member of the Boquillas are sedimentary.

Wettability of Mississippian Barnett Shale samples at different depths: Investigations from directional spontaneous imbibition

Because of its significant impact on relative permeability, capillary pressure, stimulation methods, and ultimate recovery, the wettability of reservoir rocks is a critical factor of the petroleum recovery process. However, characterizing the wettability of shale with extremely low matrix permeabilities is a challenging task because of the dominant presence of nanopores in shale and high heterogeneity of shale compositions at multiple scales.
