Energy Transition Must Address Energy Poverty

While many see the energy transition as the switch from carbon-based to non- carbon-based fuels, Scott Tinker sees a broader definition. Tinker, past AAPG president, director of the Bureau of Economic Geology and Texas state geologist, suggested the goal of a successful transition is lifting some 2.5 billion people out of poverty by addressing energy poverty, as well as by minimizing environmental impacts.

Can Gas Hydrates Be Produced with Conventional Hydrocarbon Production Technologies?

Gas hydrate field production tests, laboratory studies, and computer modeling have documented the fact that gas hydrates hosted in sand-rich, conventional reservoirs systems, can occur at high concentrations and can be produced with conventional hydrocarbon production technologies.

They are also important to our understanding of the geological story of the southern midcontinent. Join us for a virtual float trip down the Spring River in northern Oklahoma. We will explore the Middle Mississippian (Visean; upper Osagean-lower Meramecian) strata of the Boone Group as exposed in roadcuts, quarries, and natural outcroppings across Ottawa County in northeastern Oklahoma.
