How can operators increase the stimulated reservoir volume in multi-stage horizontal well completions? That is the key to increasing ultimate recovery and taking an edge off decline curves. Welcome to an interview with Jenna Robertson, ThruTubing. In addition to this interview, she will also be explaining how the technologies work at AAPG's Success with Difficult Unconventionals, Nov 12-13, in Houston.

What is your name? What is and your background?

Jenna Robertson - Thru Tubing
Jenna Robertson - Thru Tubing
Jenna Robertson, I am a Petroleum Engineering Technologist from Alberta, Canada, with 15 years of industry experience. Previous field experience in both drilling and completions enhances my current role as SlicFrac Product Line Manager with Thru Tubing Solutions. I work as an extension to the Engineering Department, as a liaison to the company's field operations to provide technical support, job procedures, product training and ongoing business development.

What do you consider to be a key challenge in today's oil and gas exploration and operations?

Increasing efficiency to reduce costs, while maximizing production

Which technologies are addressing the issues?

SlicFrac is a patented technology that selectively diverts the frac treatment to untreated formation, efficiently increasing the stimulated reservoir volume. Perf PODâ„¢ are used to effectively block perforations, sealing both round and irregularly shaped holes; making it the ideal solution for new completions and re-frac operations. The use of SlicFrac allows operators to revise their existing completion design to provide a cost reduction while increasing the efficiency of their stimulation.

Have you done anything personally to adopt or develop technologies? What did you do? What was your goal? What were the results?

SlicFrac Replacing bridge plugs with SlicFrac Perf POD, to plug/divert individual perforations, allows Operators to divert the stimulation mid-stage and reduce the total number of bridge plugs within a wellbore while maintaining the advantages of closer stage spacing and adding additional clusters. The risk of a pre-set plug can be drastically reduced, along with pump down time, completion cost and resources associated for the corresponding wireline runs and subsequent millout work. Applying Perf POD diversion technology mid stage allows the Operator to achieve maximum cluster efficiency, while stimulating the entire stage, without leaving orphan clusters behind. This ensures a more consistent stimulation volume pumped into each perforation cluster, ultimately providing a more balanced treatment and reducing the probability of a "runway frac", which could potentially damage offset wells.

What do you have planned for the future?

Continue to develop & provide innovative technology to the industry.
