AAPG Fundamentals Education Conference | Clay Minerals (Classification, Structure, Chemistry, Properties, Diagenesis) in Reservoir Evaluation | 9-13 NOVEMBER 2015 | Houston, TX, USA

How Important are Clay Minerals in Reservoir Evaluation?

Published
American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

The objective of the AAPG course on "Clay Minerals (Classification, Structure, Chemistry, Properties, Diagenesis) in Reservoir Evaluation " is to instill enough fundamental and applied information about clay minerals that a person will know what questions are relevant when formulating a work flow for a project, when evaluating real data, or when trying to figure out what might have "gone wrong" during a project. Practical experience in working with clay mineralogy is not required for this course, being held on November 12, as part of AAPG’s Fundamentals Education Conference , November 9-13, in Houston. After a brief review of the classification of sedimentary rocks (SedRx) and minerals found in those sedimentary rocks, the emphasis will shift to clay minerals: what are they, how do they form, how are they recognized, and what is their influence on reservoirs and reservoir evaluation. This course will be taught by Eric Eslinger , Consultant and Professor at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.
