Field Seminars

AAPG GTWs deliver up-to-date technical content to AAPG members and the industry. Their venues address “How are we doing it now?” through an examination of the latest practices illustrated with field case studies and examples. Their overriding focus is on the sharing of information among individuals knowledgeable in a topic in a highly interactive environment.

Attendees, practitioners and scientists have an opportunity to discuss real cases, issues, and experiences. The AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshops follow two tracks for discussion: research and application.

Field Seminar
Muscat, Oman
Sunday, 29 September 2024, 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

This field trip will give attendees an opportunity to visit and examine the full sequence of the Semail Ophiolite with two leading Oman experts who will discuss and explain to you the different Semail Ophiolite units, Ophiolite obduction tectonics and initial process of the subductions before Ophiolite detachment

Forums

AAPG Forum's goal is to maximize knowledge transfer by encouraging lively interaction and thoughtful consideration of experts' findings, experience, and insights. Practicing experts provide in-depth presentations on topics that have immediate bearing on success in exploration, development, and operations.

Short Courses

AAPG short courses offer a wealth of information in a short period of time. They are an effective and efficient way to learn about the industry. With so many to choose from, there’s something for everyone.

Short Course
Muscat, Oman
Sunday, 29 September 2024, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The subsurface heterogeneity (complexity) of an oil field is the single, most challenging aspect with dominant influence on the field productivity. The primary focus of this one day course is on analyzing a mature field with new and fresh perspectives like 3D seismic, sequence stratigraphy, fluid and phase behavior and production trends to enhance the monetization of these assets.

Geosciences Technology Workshops

AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshops (GTWs) deliver up-to-date technical content to AAPG members and the industry. Their agendas address the question “How are we doing it now?” through an examination of the latest practices as illustrated with case studies and field examples. The focus is on the sharing of information among knowledgeable individuals in a highly-interactive environment.

Attendees, practitioners and scientists have an opportunity to discuss real cases, issues, and experiences. GTWs follow two tracks for discussion: research and application. Joint workshops are produced in cooperation with other societies, expanding their scope to an even broader spectrum of participants and geoscience topics.
