AAPG & EAGE are excited to announce that a tour of the Awali Field, Bahrain will now be included as part of the Shale Gas Evolution Symposium. Don't miss out on this chance to investigate the first oil field to be discovered in the Arabian Peninsula led by Ahmed Fateh, Tatweer Petroleum.

The 3-hour field visit will cover outcrops around Jebel Al Dhukhan, the surface expression of the Bahrain anticline, where Eocene Dammam and Rus formations are exposed. The visit will give participants an overview of the facies architecture, digenetic processes and structural features present on the field. It will also cover the visits to landmarks such as well no. 1 - the 1st well drilled in the region (South of Basra) that flew oil to surface in 1931; Bapco’s Oil Museum (Dar Al Naft); the infamous Tree of Life, as well as a stop at the desert camping entertainment area for refreshments.
