Young Professionals Contribute Actively to a Successful 2016 Nape Conference

The 34th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists was both an amazing conference and a very enriching experience for all YPs and students who attended — and 2017 promises to be bigger and better.

The 34th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists was held at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, from the 12-17 November 2016. The week-long conference was filled with exciting oral and poster technical presentations, workshops, short courses, management sessions, etc.

AAPG Africa Region and NAPE’s Young Professionals teamed up to organise events specifically aimed at Young Professionals and students.

Activities kicked off on Saturday 12 November 2016 with an “away day” — a fun-filled day at beach to welcome guests to the beautiful city of Lagos, known for its fabulous sandy beaches.

On Sunday 13 November a first-of-its-kind Young Professionals Leadership Forum (YPLF) was held at Orchid Hall, Eko Hotel and Suites.

Other activities that enriched the experience of the YPs and students at the conference included quiz competitions, simulated mock interviews, a basin evaluation competition, cocktails and networking and career mentoring sessions. Many of the students who were not yet members of AAPG took the opportunity at the conference to register as student members.

It was both an amazing conference and a very enriching experience for all YPs and students who attended — and 2017 promises to be bigger and better.

AAPG Africa Region exhibited at the event.
