YP Trinidad & Tobago Chapter kicks off 2016 with a field trip

The AAPG YP Trinidad & Tobago Chapter started 2016 with another successful field trip, this time to Trinidad's Southwest Peninsula.

On Saturday 9 January 2016, the AAPG YP Trinidad & Tobago Chapter hosted a Geological Tour of the southwest peninsula of Trinidad, hosted by KPA Group and led by AAPG Visiting Geoscientists Krishna Presad and Xavier Moonan.

With a total of 12 participants and zero incidents, our first field trip for 2016 was a success.

The tour commenced with a technical presentation on southwest peninsula at the KPA Group office in La Romaine. Sites visited included Galfa Point, Bonasse and Icacos oilfields, Fullerton Village, Columbus Bay, Cedros Beach with a final stop at the various Los Bajos Fault outcrops in Pt. Fortin and Pt. Ligoure.

The YP Chapter extends deepest gratitude to Dr. Persad and Mr. Moonan for giving of their time and sharing their knowledge and experience with us during this fantastic trip!

Special thanks also to YP Stefon Harrypersad who provided additional transport. These thoughtful gestures are very important to us and go a long way.
