Perth is the centre of the Australian mining and petroleum industries and the School Earth and Geographical Sciences has a large teaching and research program working closely with the local resource industry. The Goodeve Lectureship is being established within the School to honour the achievements of geophysicist, Peter Goodeve. We are seeking an early career high achieving geoscientist with expertise in geophysics. The successful applicant will have experience in using geophysics to address geological questions relevant to exploration for mineral, petroleum or groundwater resources and will be expected to work with other geoscientists involved in applied earth science research of relevance to the resources sector.

The role requires a highly motivated geoscientist with a PhD or equivalent scholarly attainment in Geoscience and the strong desire and capability to undertake applied research at the geology-geophysics interface applicable to the minerals, petroleum and/or groundwater industry. The incumbent will be expected to conduct research at the highest level and apply for external research funds from academic and industrial grant providers. The appointee will also be expected to recruit and supervise research students and work effectively in a team environment within the School. The lectureship is expected to contribute substantially to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching that will complement current teaching in geophysics.
