Subject: International Regions Committee Meeting, Houston, March 2002

International Regions Committee members and friends of!

I would like to thank everybody for their positive contributions to our committee meeting last Saturday, 9th March. Special thanks to for Dana and Theresa for helping organize such a nice room, lunch, audio-visual supports etc, and making sure we had such a strong turn-out.

Please find attached the viewgraphs which were presented at the committee meeting, which I have edited to show the results of the various discussion which we had at the meeting. The action four items which we agreed to focus on in 2002/2003 are included. I have not included the specific reports from each region; I shall rely on our regional VC's to distribute these as they feel appropriate. Chris Heath and John Dolson may also want to use this distribution to send out the powerpoints from their presentations.

Note that we voted to change the name of the ILC (International Regions Committee) to IRC (International Regions Committee). The EC now need to "bless" this too. We also voted to accept the "mission statement" and "vision". The action items for 2002/2003 were identified as the result of the workshop (with volunteers to head these initiatives). One key point is the importance of co-designing and co-developing the IRC/OID website, and making it very easily accessible (that was also voted on and passed unanimously). Several issues were also raised as regards membership, and we are passing these on to John Karlo, International Vice Chair of the Membership Committee so he and the membership can wrestle with them (some have a long history!).
