There are many standing committees within the AAPG. Based off Advisory Council recommendations, the Executive Committee establishes, maintains and dissolves these committees. The President appoints the committee chairs, vice-chairs and other committee members. To aid in communication and coordination of efforts, the President may also appoint a committee manager whose primary responsibility is to coordinate between his or her slate of committees and their projects.
Any member of the AAPG may request to join a committee by contacting the commitee's chairs. The term of service is usually three years starting at the beginning of the fiscal year, July 1, and is subject to Executive Committee approval.
